Participation of Retail Costumers/Investor in Government Securities Issuances

Effective 1st Feb, 2012, you can participate in the primary issuance/auction of Bahrain Government Securities. Government Securities mean Treasury Bills, Government Development Bonds and Islamic Securities issued by the Central Bank of Bahrain on behalf of the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Mashreq will assist you as an agent to facilitate your participation.

Information about Issuance of Government Securities (as available on Central Bank of Bahrain Website)

The Central Bank of Bahrain and Financial Institutions Law 2006 (`CBB Law') empowers the CBB to issue debt securities on behalf of the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain (Article 4). The issuance of government debt securities is executed in coordination with the Ministry of Finance. The issuance calendar for government debt securities is published annually in advance, in the form of an issuance calendar.

At present, the following government debt securities are issued through the CBB Scripless Securities Settlement System (SSSS). This system handles the Government securities auctions, settlements and provide securities depository for the members

  1. Treasury bills (Bahraini Dinar)
  2. Government Development Bonds (Bahraini Dinar)
  3. Al Salam Sukuk (Bahraini Dinar)
  4. Short Term Ijara Sukuk (Bahraini Dinar)
  5. Long Term Ijara Sukuk
